5 players 49ers should put on the trade block entering 2024 NFL Draft

John Lynch and Kyle Shanahan have even joked about trading the other if the compensation was good enough.

49ers trade candidate No. 4: WR Danny Gray

As is the case with Drake Jackson, there isn't much room for third-year wide receiver Danny Gray, whose NFL accolades are limited to just one catch for 7 yards back in his rookie 2022 season after being selected in Round 3.

Gray, the speedster, was mostly an afterthought in year one and didn't see the field at all in 2023, meaning his prospects for securing a role on San Francisco's depth chart in 2024 are pretty slim.

Especially if the 49ers don't free up an extra spot by trading Brandon Aiyuk.

Assuming Aiyuk stays, and the Niners boast a top trio of him, Deebo Samuel and Jauan Jennings, while others like Chris Conley and Ronnie Bell are the favorites to round out the remaining spots on the depth chart.

Gray still boasts that uncoachable asset: speed. So, if San Francisco can sell that point to a bidder between now and the draft, it might be able to recoup some assets after not getting much of anything in return for the original third-round investment.
