The San Francisco 49ers have accomplished what they set out to do at the start of the regular season which was to win the No. 1 seed in the NFC.

They did it despite a three-game losing streak in October, and they did it with a week to go in the season, which means they can rest many of their starting players in Week 18 against the Los Angeles Rams if they so choose.

This accomplishment is huge. It is no coincidence that the last time the 49ers reached the Super Bowl was in the 2019 season when they secured the No. 1 seed in the NFC.

Of course, that year clinching the number one seed came down to a monster Dre Greenlaw tackle at the goal line against the Seattle Seahawks.

What followed was two dominant wins against the Minnesota Vikings and Green Bay Packers before losing to the Kansas City Chiefs in the Super Bowl.

While securing the No. 1 seed is huge, we know that this San Francisco team has higher aspirations.

To achieve that goal, the 49ers will need to improve in some areas in the next few weeks if they want to achieve that ultimate goal.
