John Lynch discusses 49ers' plans with Brandon Aiyuk, Jauan Jennings

San Francisco has two key wide receivers it needs to address this offseason: Jauan Jennings and Brandon Aiyuk.

Jennings, a restricted free agent, could be retained by one of two means: an RFA tender or by a contract extension, and Lynch said the 49ers are exploring both options.

Aiyuk, meanwhile, is still under contract through 2024 and will play on his fully guaranteed fifth-year option. But, considering his value to quarterback Brock Purdy and the offense as a whole, the Niners would prefer to lock up the 2020 first-round draft pick on a long-term deal.

"We've got a nice track record of extending the players who are important to us," Lynch said. "Brandon is a guy we want to keep around."

Lynch alluded to the fact that San Francisco faces salary-cap challenges, though, and will have to face some awfully tough decisions after rewarding other star players, previously.

Considering that track record, though, one might assume an Aiyuk extension is going to be a top priority.
