Free-agent targets 49ers can revisit with 2024 NFL Draft now over

Perhaps free agency can help plug some gaps the 49ers weren't able to address via the NFL Draft.

Edge Yannick Ngakoue

The Niners lost edge rushers Clelin Ferrell, Randy Gregory and Chase Young to free agency during the offseason but picked up Leonard Floyd and Yetur Gross-Matos to pair with the All-Pro, Nick Bosa.

However, once a team feels it has enough pass-rushers, it's always a good idea to add another.

At 29 years old, edge Yannick Ngakoue doesn't command the same attention as he used to between 2016 and 2022 when he'd regularly approach (and sometimes reach) 10 sacks in a season. Last year with the Chicago Bears, he had only four sacks in an injury-abbreviated 13-game effort.

As a rotational pass-rusher, Ngakoue could help bolster the back end of San Francisco's depth chart while guarding against potential injuries to the rostered players the team has.
