No. 3: Left guard Laken Tomlinson (Jets)

Veteran left guard Laken Tomlinson departed the 49ers after a Pro Bowl 2021 campaign, which was the capstone of a five-year Niners tenure that saw him emerge as a quality stalwart who almost never encountered any serious injury.

Yet San Francisco drafted offensive guard Aaron Banks that same year, and it was apparent he was intended to be the long-term future at the position, which led to Tomlinson signing a lucrative deal with the New York Jets in free agency heading into 2022.

Tomlinson's Jets tenure was not good, plain and simple.

In 2023, per Pro Football Focus, Tomlinson surrendered 51 quarterback pressures and seven sacks, and it was more than evident his best days were behind him and left in the Bay Area.

Gang Green subsequently released Tomlinson to both save cap space and to find a better alternative to shore up its offensive line.
