The 2023 NFL season didn't end the way the San Francisco 49ers would have hoped, losing to the Kansas City Chiefs in the Super Bowl for the second time in five years.

The good news is the 49ers should be in a fantastic position to go on another deep playoff run next season with Brock Purdy leading the charge at quarterback once again.

Purdy was in the MVP conversation for a portion of the season, but stumbled a bit down the stretch, including having his worst game of the year in a big spot against Lamar Jackson and the Baltimore Ravens. With that being said, Purdy was just in his second year in the league and his first as a full-time starter.

With another season of improvement and continuing to play in Kyle Shanahan's effective offensive system, there's no reason why Purdy can't get himself back in contention to be named the NFL MVP next season.

Let's take a look at the overall odds to be named NFL MVP in 2024 and then let's dive into Purdy's odds a little bit further.

Brock Purdy Still Not Respected Among Oddsmakers

Despite leading the 49ers to the Super Bowl, oddsmakers and bettors seem to continue to disrespect Brock Purdy, ranking him as a second tier quarterback at best.

At the start of the offseason, Purdy is listed as tied for eighth on the odds list at FanDuel Sportsbook to be named NFL MVP. He's well behind the likes of Patrick Mahomes and Josh Allen, while still being significantly behind quarterbacks like Justin Herbert and Jordan Love.

People seem to forget that Purdy was the betting favorite to be named NFL MVP last season before his Week 16 game against the Ravens.

He led the NFL in virtually every single passing metric last season including yards per attempt, yards per completion, QBR, and Quarterback Rating. Call him a "system quarterback" all you want, but the numbers don't lie and Purdy posted elite metrics.

Not only that, but being still as young as he is, we should fully expect him to improve ahead of the 2024 campaign.

While the odds are disrespectful, it gives us a chance to take advantage of the mispriced bet. Purdy to win MVP presents the most value on the entire list of odds.
