Bengals vs. 49ers prediction, odds, spread, injuries, trends for NFL Week 8
Full betting preview for NFL Week 8 action between the Cincinnati Bengals and San Francisco 49ers

The San Francisco 49ers looked almost unbeatable early in the season, but now they've all of a sudden lost two straight games Can they get back on track in Week 8 when they welcome the Bengals off a BYE week?
Make no mistake about it, the 49ers are still one of the few elite teams in the NFL despite the two recent losses. I think they'll prove that this week and I'll break down why I think that later in this article.
It's worth noting that Brock Purdy may miss this game due to being on concussion protocol. If he does, Sam Darnold will get the start for the 49ers. As a result, the 49ers have moved from 5.5-point favorites to +3.5-point underdogs.
Brock Purdy is now unlikely to play Sunday vs. the Bengals based on this trend: No NFL player placed into concussion protocol this season has played the same week. The last player to be in concussion protocol who played the same week was 2022, when Kenny Pickett had a concussion… https://t.co/vYWBmhIkoX

Bengals vs. 49ers key players to watch
Cincinnati Bengals
Joe Burrow: There's no denying the Bengals haven't been themselves since the start of the NFL season, likely due to Joe Burrow's bum calf that has kept him from being at 100%. Now that the Bengals had a BYE week, it's time for Burrow to take a step forward and start to look like the Burrow of old.
San Francisco 49ers
Sam Darnold: If Brock Purdy does miss Sunday's game, as the reports indicate, Sam Darnold will be making his 49ers debut. He was a failed experiment in both New York and Carolina, but now that he's going to play on a team where he'll be surrounded by superstars, we'll see if he can hold his own.
Bengals vs. 49ers prediction and pick
I liked the 49ers at -5.5 with Brock Purdy and I still like them at -3.5 with Sam Darnold. This bet isn't about the 49ers as much as it's about the Bengals. I still have no faith in this Bengals team and I think the oddsmakers are still overvaluing them. They enter this week in 31st in the NFL in Net Yards per Play at -1.4 and still haven't looked impressive in their three wins.
Until the Bengals impress me, I will be betting against them.
The 49ers are still an elite team, coming in at fourth in Net Yards per Play at +1.1 and their success isn't solely due to Purdy so I'm fine with still betting on them with Darnold under center. Christian McCaffrey, Brandon Aiyuk, and their defense are good enough to beat this Bengals team as long as Darnold doesn't hand Cincinnati the win.
I'll take the 49ers to win and cover.
