49ers could trade away one of these 4 players before Week 1

Could John Lynch make a move or two before the 49ers kick off their 2023 regular-season campaign?

49ers trade candidate No. 1: Drake Jackson

Perhaps this is a bit of a reach, but there's some merit to the possibility.

The 49ers' top pick from the 2022 NFL Draft, edge Drake Jackson, impressed early his rookie year and quickly notched three sacks while boasting some serious ability to swat down passes at the line of scrimmage.

However, a lack of conditioning meant he was a regular healthy scratch toward the end of the season and into the playoffs.

Granted, all signs report to Jackson being in great shape his sophomore year, and it's rare for teams to trade away pass-rushers with potential, especially if they're on their cheap rookie contracts. But, if Jackson winds up not convincing the Niners that last year's disappointments are behind him, they could look to move him while his potential remains notably high.

True, this would mean banking on castoff defensive linemen like Austin Bryant and Clelin Ferrell to pair with the All-Pro, Nick Bosa. But, San Francisco didn't have a high-quality No. 2 pass-rusher off the edge last year, and that worked out fine.

If Jackson flames out, and that's still a major "if," the 49ers would likely want to keep it quiet and look to get something in exchange now.
