49ers lose preseason finale to Chargers, these looming questions remain

Preseason games don't matter except when it comes to figuring out what's next.

49ers question No. 2: What to do about kickers?

it was weird to see punter Mitch Wishnowsky taking a field-goal try early in the game against the Chargers.

But, as news broke, it turns out that both of the 49ers place kickers, Jake Moody and Zane Gonzalez, were dealing with injuries. Moody didn't dress for the contest, while Gonzalez actually suffered his own leg injury at some point during the game.

This isn't too big of a deal, per se, except for worrying about Moody's injury. He's going to be the long-term solution at the position after the Niners used a third-round pick on him during last April's draft.

If he starts the year on an injury list, however, Gonzalez gets a few more weeks in a San Francisco uniform.

Provided he's healthy, of course. And no one wants to see Wishnowsky attempt field goals or extra points.
