The San Francisco 49ers are the odds-on favorite to repeat as NFC West champions after falling short in the Super Bowl.

The dust has settled from the Super Bowl and the NFL offseason is in full swing after the NFL Scouting Combine wrapped up on Sunday. With nine days left until the start of the new league year, division odds have been released.

To no surprise, the Niners are favored to repeat as NFC West champions. According to FanDuel Sportsbook, the 49ers are -220 favorites ($100 bet wins $45.45)  to win the NFC West, which carries an implied probability of 68.75% of San Francisco to pull out a three-peat.

Browsing FanDuel’s divisional odds board, San Francisco is the biggest favorite in the NFL, just narrowly ahead of the Super Bowl-champion Kansas City Chiefs, who are -210 to win the AFC East. The reigning conference champions are the only two teams without a plus-money payout to win their respective division next season.

2024 NFC West odds

Under Kyle Shanahan, San Francisco has captured three division titles over the last five years and has been dominant against NFC West foes in wrapping up the last two NFC West titles.

Over the last two seasons, San Francisco is 25-9 overall and 11-1 in divisional contests. Its's only loss to an NFC West team in that stretch was a 21-20 defeat to the Los Angeles Rams in Week 18 of last season. On that afternoon in Santa Clara, California, the 49ers rested starters having already wrapped up the No. 1 overall seed and a first-round bye in the NFC playoffs.

The 49ers are sizable favorites to reach the Super Bowl for the second consecutive season, too. San Francisco is +230 to hoist the George Halas Trophy with the Detroit Lions and Dallas Cowboys (+600) as distant runners-up.

Who could threaten the 49ers in NFC West?

San Francisco is a big favorite that includes two rebuilding squads. The Arizona Cardinals are coming off a 4-13 season under a first-year coach. The Seattle Seahawks narrowly missed the playoffs after a resurgent season from quarterback Geno Smith. Seattle restructured in a big way by dismissing longtime coach and Super Bowl champion Pete Carroll in favor of Mike Macdonald.

The only realistic threat to the 49ers' divisional dominance is the Rams, who still have several pieces - head coach Sean McVay, quarterback Matthew Stafford, wide receiver Cooper Kupp, and defensive tackle Aaron Donald from the team's run to a Super Bowl title a few seasons ago. The Rams are looking to use last year's run to the playoffs (LA finished the regular season 7-1 to earn a Wild Card berth) into a playoff team in 2024.
