49ers Draft Odds Hint Which Position They'll Take with First Pick
Predicting which position the San Francisco 49ers will draft with their first pick in the upcoming 2024 NFL Draft.
The downside of being one of the best teams in the league is you have to wait quite a while to finally make your first selection in the NFL Draft. It's a spot fans of the 49ers are familiar with and this season is no different. They currently hold the No. 31 overall pick in this month's draft.
With 30 players being selected before them, barring they don't trade up, it's tough to try to predict who will be available for San Francisco when they finally make their pick. What we can do instead is try to guess which position the 49ers will select when it's finally their turn.
One of the best ways to try to figure that out is by looking at the betting odds, which will give us a great idea of which way they'll go.
NFL Draft Odds for 49ers
The odds listed below are via FanDuel Sportsbook:

- Cornerback +400
- Defensive Lineman/Edge +400
- Wide Receiver +400
- Safety +3000
- Linebacker +5000
According to FanDuel, there are six possibilities for the 49ers to go in with their first pick. Offensive lineman is the betting favorite at -115. Cornerback, Defensive Lineman/Edge Rusher, and Wide Receiver are all tied for the second most likely option at +400. Safety (+3000) and Linebacker (+5000) are distant fifth and sixth possibilities.
At -115 odds, there's a 53.49% chance the 49ers take an offensive lineman with their first pick. It makes sense when you consider the 49ers allowed their quarterback to be pressured on 19.9% of their dropbacks, which ranked just 14th in the NFL in 2023.
There are a couple of possibilities for the 49ers at that position at No. 31 overall, but the most intriguing may be Jordan Morgan from Arizona, who has the flexibility to play either the guard or the tackle position.
