49ers Pro Bowl candidate No. 1: Brandon Aiyuk

Prior to hitting this page, if someone asked you which player led San Francisco in receiving yards last season, your answer probably wouldn't be wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk.

George Kittle, perhaps. Deebo Samuel, probably. But not Aiyuk.

With 1,015 receiving yards on 78 catches, however, Aiyuk did lead one of the more stacked offenses in receiving yards over the course of 2022, yet he ultimately felt as if he was underappreciated and not respected enough.

Aiyuk is banking on himself in what's essentially a contract year prior to when the 49ers would consider an extension, and the former first-round draftee is ready to best last year's career-high marks.

“I’m about to take off,” Aiyuk said recently. “That’s it."

If so, and it's hard to envision any other scenario, Aiyuk will be looking squarely in the face of a first-time Pro Bowl accolade.

And the Niners would be better for it.
