49ers move No. 1: Sign another pass-rusher

The 49ers already have the best pass-rusher in the NFL in Nick Bosa. But they have a number of question marks behind him.

After losing Charles Omenihu and Samson Ebukam in free agency, the Niners can hope for one of a few different outcomes, one of them being second-year pro Drake Jackson taking a huge leap after a dramatic drop-off last season. Another, of course, is the hope that either Clelin Ferrell or Austin Bryant, two underachieving pass-rushers who signed with San Francisco this offseason, resurrect their respective careers.

Either way, a good strategy for any team is to grab yet another pass-rusher even when the thought is there is already enough on the roster.

There are a few names left on the market. Former Kansas City Chiefs EDGE Frank Clark is still there. So is former Indianapolis Colts defensive end Yannick Ngakoue. The 49ers can even look to an old NFC West foe in former Los Angeles Rams EDGE Leonard Floyd, too.

Sure, pass-rushers can be expensive. Even the second-rate ones can cost $8 million per year.

Unless the Niners are hoping for big things from Jackson, Ferrell and/or Bryant, they’d better consider grabbing a pass-rusher from NFL free agency.
