49ers move No. 3: Sign offensive tackle Isaiah Wynn

There was plenty of speculation the Niners would draft an offensive tackle to replace now-Denver Broncos right tackle Mike McGlinchey, but San Francisco did no such move.

For now, it appears as if the 49ers are comfortable with one of their longtime backups, Colton McKivitz, taking over in a full-time role. And if he doesn’t cut it, an under-the-radar free-agent pickup in Matt Pryor will be in the mix, too.

That said, the last thing a Super Bowl-caliber team like the Niners will want is for the right side of the offensive line to become a complete liability.

It’s somewhat of a shocker that former New England Patriots right tackle Isaiah Wynn is still a free agent. Sure, he had a bit of a down year last season but is still just 28 years old. And the longer he lasts in NFL free agency, the likelihood of him taking a lower-market contract increases.

If San Francisco can land an upgrade over McKivitz and Pryor in Wynn, there shouldn’t be any hesitation whatsoever.
