No. 155: CB Darrell Luter Jr.

With the 155th overall selection in the 2023 NFL Draft, the 49ers used their first of two fifth-round picks on cornerback Darrell Luter Jr. out of South Alabama.

Luter Jr. played three seasons at South Alabama. In 2021 he grabbed four interceptions and had 10 passes defended. In his 2022 campaign, he played in 13 games and had one interception and seven passes defended.

Although cornerbacks Charvarius Ward and Deommodore Lenoir will likely be the two starters at the position in 2023, Luter Jr. brings an added level of depth to the defensive back group.

Although he will probably see more time on special teams, Luter Jr. will be able to step in should there be any injuries. He is a great addition to the future of the team and will bring his explosiveness and 40.5-inch vertical as reported by The Athletic’s David Lombardi.
