4 sleepers 49ers must have eyes on late in 2023 NFL Draft

No. 1 sleeper 49ers must target: EDGE Isaiah McGuire, Mizzou
The 49ers must find a complementary pass-rusher to pair with All-Pro Nick Bosa.
Sure, their top pick from the 2022 NFL Draft, Drake Jackson, could be pegged to assume that role after tailing off drastically his rookie season. And it’s also possible the Niners resurrect the otherwise floundering careers of fellow edge rushers like Austin Bryant and Clelin Ferrell.
Or, possibly, San Francisco simply looks to this year’s draft with the hope of landing a hidden gem.
The 2023 draft has a number of good-quality edge rushers, and some will slip down into day three.

One of those is Missouri‘s Isaiah McGuire, whose 6-foot-4 and 268-pound frame contains plenty of power and strength. Finesse isn’t his game, and McGuire shouldn’t be counted upon to be a decent run-stopper yet.
But, as a secondary pass-rusher opposite Bosa, McGuire could be an excellent find if he somehow manages to slip into Round 5.
The 2023 NFL Draft kicks off on Thursday, April 27.
