On the clock: NFL Draft Pick No. 13: New York Jets – Paris Johnson, Offensive Tackle, Ohio State

Mock Draft 1.0: Paris Johnson, Offensive Tackle, Ohio State

Two repeated picks in a row!

This pick probably won’t remain with the Jets for long as they seek to trade for quarterback Aaron Rodgers, but as this particular mock won’t do trades it’s still Paris Johnson to New York.

Offensive tackle Mekhi Becton has been a bust since being a first-round selection for the New York Jets and needs to be replaced, Paris Johnson burst into prominence as the primary protector for C.J. Stroud.

A good size at 6-foot-6 and 315 pounds, Johnson is a good athlete who has the movement to battle elite EDGEs at the next level. A prototypical left tackle, Johnson has the perfect height/speed/length ratio that teams are looking for.

Johnson isn’t a weak player by any means, but the one area of concern is he’s a finesse blocker, relatively speaking. He hasn’t got the power to totally blast defenders, so a bit of time in the weight room could do him wonders.

If he can develop the killer instinct to go with the rest of his skills, he could be a top left tackle in the NFL.
