861. . Wide Receiver. Cougars . Puka Nacua. 253. player

Round 7, Pick No. 253 Overall: 49ers select WR Puka Nacua

The Niners do not need another receiver. They have a “wide back,” a newly crowned thousand-yard receiver in Brandon Aiyuk, Jauan Jennings who is sure-handed and reliable, especially on third downs, and they have running back Christian McCaffrey who can literally play any position on the field.

If we’re being honest, they have so much depth at receiver that Kyle Shanahan had to shelve then-rookie Danny Gray for the entire 2022 season.

With all that being said, BYU’s Puka Nacua is still worth a look.

In his junior year, he averaged 18.3 yards per catch while posting a QB rating of 128.0 when targeted. His senior season was a bit lower but still very impressive.

He’s another speedster (4.45) with good height at 6-foot-1 and great length. His combination of speed and average yards-per-catch bares comparison to Danny Amendola or Cooper Kupp, subjectively speaking, of course.

Nacua and Gray would have to fight for reps, but if they are anything alike in terms of ability it’ll be a lot of fun to watch.
