49ers possible Brock Purdy trade package partner No. 1: Indianapolis Colts

The Indianapolis Colts are in dire need of a quarterback, according to everyone in recent news.

Long-time Atlanta Falcon Matt Ryan has been recently released, and despite a productive career, Nick Foles continues to get zero respect year after year. However, he is 34 years of age, and his best football is probably behind him.

Speaking of behind him, if he should go down with an injury then backing him up are two young, unproven options. That’s not a good look for any NFL team. After all, look what happened to the 49ers last season.

But, as luck would have it, general manager Chris Ballard has nine selections in the upcoming 2023 NFL Draft to bring to the bargaining table if he wants to acquire quarterback Brock Purdy.

If Ballard pulls the trigger on the deal of the century, then waiting for Purdy when he gets off the plane is arguably the best running back in football, Jonathan Taylor, and a core of young wide receivers to hopefully find chemistry with.

Add in a first-round talent at wide receiver, and a couple of offensive linemen in the later rounds for depth, and the Colts could find themselves back in the playoffs for the first time since 2019.

Sounds like a recipe for success.

It also sounds like a lot to take in for the “Faithful.”

Will any of this happen? Probably not. Purdy has done all the right things and has certainly proved that he can lead his team.

But, moving forward, as we’ve seen before in the National Football League, literally anything is a possibility.
