Ranking best edge rushers available to 49ers in NFL free agency

49ers pass-rushing target No. 2: Yannick Ngakoue, Colts
The 49ers have probably had their shots at landing Indianapolis Colts EDGE Yannick Ngakoue over the years, but for whatever reason, they’ve come up short.
All told, though, the soon-to-be 28-year-old Ngakoue has always been a good-quality player who has always flown under the radar.
Perhaps it was due to his first four years with the Jacksonville Jaguars, where he recorded a notable 35.7 sacks. Maybe his time with the Minnesota Vikings and Baltimore Ravens in 2020 went unnoticed, even though he had eight sacks that year.
Heck, he had 10 sacks for the Las Vegas Raiders in 2021 before registering 9.5 with the Colts last season before landing on injured reserve.
Either way, Ngakoue might be the affordable kind of free-agent pass-rusher the Niners would target.
Based on his prior production, he’d be pretty effective, too.
