2023 NFL Draft, Pick No. 13: New York Jets – Paris Johnson, Offensive Tackle, Ohio State
Offensive tackle Mekhi Becton has been a bust since being a first-round selection for the New York Jets, so they have to look for an upgrade for whoever is quarterbacking in 2023.
Paris Johnson is a talented blocker who protected quarterback C.J. Stroud well this season. While still a bit raw and still needs to add some more strength to his frame, he has a lot of talent for the next level.
A good size at 6-foot-6 and 315 pounds, Johnson is a good athlete who has the movement to battle elite EDGEs at the next level. Unlike Peter Skoronski, he has much better length with his arms, which he can use to his advantage. This height/speed/length ratio has been his bread and butter for Ohio State.
Johnson isn’t a weak player by any means, but the one area of concern is he’s a finesse blocker, relatively. He hasn’t got the power to totally blast defenders, so a bit of time in the weight room could do him wonders.
If he can develop the power to go with the rest of his skills, he could be a top left tackle in the NFL.
