Stud: wideback Deebo Samuel

Deebo Samuel is back!

Whether he plays wide receiver, running back or wide back means very little at this point. His presence, no matter the capacity, was certainly felt by Seattle in the first round of the playoffs. After what looked like a gruesome injury to his ankle in Week 14, he looked to be in top physical condition for Saturday’s contest.

He made little impact for his return against the Arizona Cardinals, but as expected, it was the calm before the storm. Samuel caught six passes for 133 yards and a score and added 32 yards on the ground. He was everything the 49ers needed him to be against the Seahawks.

Early on, he looked to be settling in slowly, but after a missed penalty that looked to be unsportsmanlike conduct on the Seahawks, Samuel got to work. That missed call prompted 25 unanswered points and put the game away.

Look for Samuel to build on this performance week after week. Much like McCaffrey he’s only getting started.
