No. 3: 49ers EDGE Kemoko Turay
It’s OK if you forgot that fifth-year pro EDGE Kemoko Turay was still on the Niners roster.
San Francisco’s three-game preseason campaign should have revealed a lot about what head coach Kyle Shanahan thought of the former Indianapolis Colts pass-rusher, as Turay was frequently on the field late in those exhibition games and rarely lining up opposite opposing second- or even third-string units.
The 49ers have kept Turay around, as having plenty of pass-rushers is never a bad idea, but it sure appears as if the 27 year old is the 53rd player on a 53-man roster.
Having been active for just three of the Niners’ first eight games is probably indicative of that enough, and he’s frequently a healthy scratch on game day anyway, as was the case in Week 8 against the Los Angeles Rams:

WR Deebo Samuel (hamstring)
WR Jauan Jennings (hamstring)
FB Kyle Juszczyk (finger)
DL Arik Armstead (foot, ankle)
LB Dre Greenlaw (calf)
CB Jason Verrett (knee)
DL Kemoko Turay
What’ll likely happen, especially in light of San Francisco expecting a number of injured players to return after the bye in Week 9, is Turay winds up being that back-end player dismissed from the 53-man roster.
He might subsequently sign with the practice squad or be the first name called if another injury arises, but don’t expect Turay to survive the back-end roster cuts between now and Week 18.
