Christian McCaffrey: 3 fun facts about the 49ers’ newest running back
No. 1: Christian McCaffrey is in the ‘Triple Crown’ club
Christian McCaffrey had one of the most amazing games in Week 8 against the Rams. He achieved an accolade that again put him in a very exclusive club: Having a passing touchdown, receiving touchdown and a rushing touchdown in a single game.
It was the fourth time in the Super Bowl era, that a player had scored a touchdown in each of those three categories.
The last time it happened was in 2005 by Hall of Fame running back LaDanian Tomlinson who was playing for the then-San Diego Chargers. Then, before that, eventual three-time Super Bowl-winning wide receiver David Patten on the New England Patriots achieved it in 2001.

Of course, for the first time in the Super Bowl era, that accolade was achieved in 1979 by Hall of Fame running back Walter Payton of the Chicago Bears.
Not a bad group for McCaffrey to be grouped with, two Hall of Famers and a three-time Super Bowl champion.
