49ers stud: Running back Jeff Wilson Jr.

Week 5 felt a lot like 2019 in many ways, as the Niners got back to a run-first offense that saw two familiar faces in tandem dominate the game on the ground, Tevin Coleman and Jeff Wilson Jr.

Coleman added two touchdowns, reminiscent of his 2019 performance against the Panthers back at Levi’s Stadium, but it’s Wilson who stood out as the more impressive tailback.

A cool 120 yards on 17 rush attempts for an average of 7.1 yards per carry would do that, particularly on this long of 41 yards:

Recalling the potency of San Francisco’s depth, it’s vital to call out how Wilson is still a backup to the injured starter, Elijah Mitchell. Yet, on a week-to-week basis, Wilson has nevertheless delivered when the 49ers have asked him to do so.

Week 5 was no different, and he stands out as a massive contributor.
