49ers right guard Spencer Burford (Round 4)

The interior of San Francisco’s offensive line was supposed to be a massive question mark this season in the wake of losing Pro Bowlers Laken Tomlinson and Alex Mack.

And while it hasn’t necessarily been a strength, this portion of the O-line hasn’t been a massive weakness either.

Perhaps the most pleasant surprise of the year has been rookie lineman Spencer Burford out of UTSA, who won the starting right guard gig during training camp and has now started all four games at right guard, albeit going through a Week 4 rotation at the spot with the veteran, Daniel Brunskill.

According to Pro Football Focus, Burford has surrendered four pressures and two quarterback hits, while also being flagged for three penalties. But he has yet to give up a sack, which is commendable considering some of the strong defensive opponents the 49ers have already faced this season.

It’s early, but Burford looks the part of an above-average interior lineman for the long run.
