Reason No. 3: 49ers have winnable games ahead on NFL schedule

Yes, the Niners should have dominated Weeks 1 and 3. Neither the Bears nor Broncos boast the same caliber of roster, and Kyle Shanahan should be viewed as far superior an offensive play-caller than what either Chicago or Denver can muster.

That said, and in light of San Francisco’s historically slow starts, looking ahead at the 49ers’ upcoming slate of games, there are plenty of “get right” opportunities.

Starting off with a grudge match against the Los Angeles Rams in Week 4 on Monday Night Football. And despite LA coming off its own Super Bowl win last season, which required knocking off the Niners in the NFC Championship game, head coach Sean McVay’s squad is now dealing with its own problems.

Los Angeles is prone to turning the ball over, seven in three games, and its offensive line is problematic. And while San Francisco’s offense has struggled, McVay’s is averaging a mere 5.3 yards per play.

Good for 19th.

The 49ers can still bank on winning six of their last seven bouts against the Rams, too.

After Monday, the Niners can anticipate two very winnable road games against the lowly Carolina Panthers and Atlanta Falcons in Weeks 5 and 6, respectively, which could cap off a very real possibility of a three-win stretch.
