No. 3: Ka’Dar Hollman’s pass breakup isn’t enough to crack 49ers’ deep cornerback room

With starting cornerbacks Charvarius Ward and Emmanuel Moseley not suiting up and nursing minor soft-tissue injuries, plenty of reserve cornerbacks had the chance to showcase their value and impress on Friday night.

On one hand, veteran corner Ka’Dar Hollman does have good speed and flashed it a couple of times during the game, and he also recorded a nice pass breakup early in the second quarter on a pass from Packers quarterback Jordan Love.

Yet Love and wide receiver Danny Davis made Hollman look bad later in the quarter, connecting on a 33-yard touchdown pass that made the cornerback whiff completely:

Hollman was also flagged for defensive pass interference earlier on the same drive.

In a situation similar to that of Austin Mack, Hollman is looking up at a deep cornerback room led by Ward and Moseley. And with Samuel Womack’s impressive night, he’s essentially a lock, too.

While there’s a little more fluidity towards the back end of the depth chart here, Hollman is looking like an odd man out.
