49ers stud vs. Packers: QB Brock Purdy

The expectations could still be low for the final pick of the 2022 NFL Draft, quarterback Brock Purdy, who earned the moniker of being Mr. Irrelevant because of his draft placement. And going up against third- and fourth-stringers late in the fourth quarter won’t move the needle too much in terms of his 53-man roster stock.

However, Purdy did engineer what turned into the 49ers’ game-winning touchdown late in the game, capitalizing with a 5-yard touchdown pass to backup tight end Tanner Hudson:

Beyond the throw, Purdy being able to evade pressure from his backside and then throw on the move to find Hudson was commendable.

So was converting on the subsequent two-point conversion.

Granted, Purdy’s first toss in an NFL game was nearly an incompletion, but one can’t overlook his 36 yards of passing with the touchdown and two-point score, which will all help his slim chances of hanging onto a regular-season roster spot.
