No. 4: 49ers cornerback Emmanuel Moseley

Azeez Al-Shaair is just one example of the Niners finding UDFA gems, while cornerback Emmanuel Moseley has been another.

From starting in Super Bowl LIV to fending off more senior competition in the two years since, Moseley enters 2022 as the likely favorite to start opposite San Francisco’s big-ticket free-agent pickup from the offseason, Charvarius Ward.

Set to earn up to $6.55 million in the final season of the two-year deal he signed before 2021, Moseley has been a bargain.

At 26 years old, Moseley hitting a contract year might entice him to test the open market a little less than a year from now, particularly if he takes advantage of what’s looking like a stout 49ers defense thus far in training camp. However, knowing just how much their cornerback room has been a liability in recent years, the Niners may want to take advantage of Moseley’s ascent and lock him up in tandem with Ward for the long run.

There’s been little to suggest Moseley declines as a player, and getting him under a contract extension while he’s still young would be a wise move.
