49ers tough opponent No. 2: EDGE Joey Bosa, Chargers

Yes, the battle of the Bosa brothers should be an entertaining one for sure, as the Niners host the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 10.

San Francisco is watching its own top pass-rusher, Nick Bosa, overtake his elder brother, Joey Bosa, in terms of being the most prolific defensive player in this sibling rivalry, yet that shouldn’t discount just how big a threat Joey Bosa poses to the 49ers offense in this particular contest.

Good thing the Niners don’t have to play the Bolts twice, unlike the Rams.

Despite dealing with injuries earlier in his career, Bosa has turned into the game-wrecking force Los Angeles envisioned he’d be when it drafted him No. 3 overall back in the 2016 NFL Draft. Having made the Pro Bowl in each of the last three seasons, the 27 year old is coming off a highly productive 10.5-sack campaign with 20 quarterback hits.

Now, in tandem with former Chicago Bears EDGE Khalil Mack, Bosa and the Chargers’ defensive front figure to become one of the more formidable units in the NFL this season.

Locking down Bosa won’t be easy, especially if the Bolts elect to line him up opposite right tackle Mike McGlinchey, whose own pass-blocking efforts will be in question after he suffered a torn quad a year ago.
