Fantasy football: 5 players who’ll be overdrafted in 2022
By Peter Panacy
Overdrafted fantasy football player No. 4: QB Trey Lance, 49ers
2022 ADP: 9.09
Speaking of Trey Lance, you know there are going to be some San Francisco fans out there banking on the former No. 3 overall pick being a fantasy gem this season.
There’s an argument to it. Lance oozes potential and prowess, and within a year or two, he may be in consideration for one of the best up-and-coming quarterbacks in the league.
Buyer beware, though.
Drafting any but the absolute best quarterbacks early is always a shaky fantasy strategy, and one might not look at Lance’s 9.09 ADP as a massive reach. Considering that ADP is higher than that of the Las Vegas Raiders’ Derek Carr (9.10) or the Minnesota Vikings’ Kirk Cousins (10.12), it might be a safer bet to go with proven volume passers.
Especially Carr, who gets the added bonus of throwing to All-Pro wide receiver Davante Adams, who came over from the Green Bay Packers this offseason.
Granted, Lance will have Deebo Samuel, and that’s fine. But the unproven nature of Lance makes him a player you should likely push towards the bottom of your fantasy big board.
