No. 1: 49ers defensive back Tarvarius Moore

It’s almost as if we forgot veteran defensive back Tarvarius Moore was on San Francisco’s roster this season.

After suffering a torn Achilles last offseason that ultimately ended his 2021 campaign, Moore is back and ready for duty this year, although the makeup of the 49ers secondary looks entirely different.

Strong safety Jaquiski Tartt is gone, opening up the door for second-year pro Talanoa Hufanga to start there, while the additions and re-signings of cornerbacks Charvarius Ward, Samuel Womack and Jason Verrett, among others, cloud the depth chart considerably.

Moore does have his ability to serve as a multifaceted defensive back, one who’s capable of playing both boundary corner and either safety spot, and it wouldn’t be out of the question to see him in big-nickel duties, which he performed well enough in 2019 and to an extent in 2020.

However, working his way back from his injury last year may cast some doubts, and there simply might not be enough room on the roster for him anyway.

Especially if he gets out to a slow start during training camp.
