Dee Ford suitor No. 2: Los Angeles Rams

Yes, another 49ers NFC West rival in the mix here for Dee Ford’s services.

It’s no secret the Los Angeles Rams wanted to retain their prized midseason acquisition from last year’s Super Bowl run, EDGE Von Miller, who ultimately elected to depart in NFL free agency to join the Buffalo Bills.

This leaves a massive gap on the edge opposite pass-rusher Leonard Floyd. And while Floyd and All-Pro defensive tackle Aaron Donald still make up what should be considered a vaunted defensive line, LA will need all the defensive fortitude it can get if it wants to back up last year’s Lombardi Trophy heist.

In the interim, fourth-year pro EDGE Justin Hollins looks to be that No. 2 outside pass-rusher opposite Floyd, yet Hollins has just five sacks over the last two years for Los Angeles.

Not exactly pure potency there.

Knowing just how aggressive Rams general manager Les Snead will be, it wouldn’t be shocking at all if he tries to take full advantage of the Niners parting ways with Ford, both plucking away a rival team’s player and then hoping his knowledge and when-healthy talents come back to haunt the former employer.
