No. 3: Rams continue trend of midseason stockpiling

The biggest threat to the 49ers pulling off an NFC West crown this year is, without doubt, the Rams.

LA will look to back up its Super Bowl crown. And despite losing some notable talent this offseason, including offensive linemen Austin Corbett and Andrew Whitworth, EDGE Von Miller, cornerback Darious Williams and wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr., one can only expect general manager Les Snead to remain aggressive by the time the 2022 NFL trade deadline comes around.

It might be fair to question just how Snead manages to come up with the cap space to absorb high-profile players, and the fact Los Angeles prioritizes proven players over unproven draft picks did generate success.

Just look at the Rams actually winning a Super Bowl in light of trading multiple picks to the Detroit Lions for quarterback Matthew Stafford as a perfect example. As far as the 2022 offseason, adding wide receiver Allen Robinson and linebacker Bobby Wagner help offset the aforementioned losses.

We have no clue which star-level players will be available by the time the trade deadline comes around.

What we do know, however, is LA will be in the mix for stockpiling talent regardless of whatever future costs many a fan doesn’t think the team will be able to pay.
