Toughest road game on 49ers schedule No. 1: Week 8 @ Rams

OK, so if we’re actually taking out the crowd for this one, the 49ers visiting the Super Bowl-champion Los Angeles Rams in Week 8 would be the No. 1 biggest road challenge facing the red and gold.

If for no other reason than the defending champions would want to reenact what happened in the NFC Championship game last season.

Perhaps Los Angeles is a bit weaker in the secondary after losing cornerback Darious Williams. But it surely got stronger within the front seven by adding former Seahawks All-Pro linebacker Bobby Wagner to line up close to regular Defensive Player of the Year candidate, defensive tackle Aaron Donald, then giving quarterback Matthew Stafford another receiving weapon in former Chicago Bears wideout Allen Robinson. Pairing Robinson with All-Pro receiver Cooper Kupp will be a major challenge to a revamped Niners defensive backfield.

Fortunately, though, the Faithful have made a habit out of dominating SoFI Stadium as “Levi’s South,” so perhaps this won’t be quite as big a road matchup at all.

As far as the team San Francisco is facing, however, LA is still a massive challenge and should be No. 1 on this list heading into 2022.
