The 2022 NFL Draft is a couple of days away and rumors are heating up about 49ers WR Deebo Samuel and what his next team could possibly be.

Everyone in the NFL is wondering where San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Deebo Samuel will end up.

Samuel recently has requested a trade from the team that picked him with the 36th pick of the 2018 NFL Draft. His sudden emergence in his 2021 campaign came out as a shock around the league, and now believes he is valued as a top-three wide receiver, and no one can blame him after basically single-handily carrying the Niners to the NFC Championship game but to fall short by three points to the eventual Super Bowl winners, the Los Angeles Rams.

Now you may be thinking to yourself, “Oh great, another Deebo article.” But this one could benefit your team even if you’re not a San Francisco fan.

There are a few scenarios where Samuel could end up on your team if the 49ers decide to trade one of their most valuable assets, but he will not come cheap. If anything, the Niners would be looking to sell extremely high, capitalizing on Samuel’s success last season and his uniqueness as a dual-threat weapon so dangerously featured a year ago.

Here are a few teams that could try to trade for Samuel between now and the start of the 2022 NFL Draft.

A reunion with former defensive coordinator Robert Saleh might entice both the 49ers and Deebo Samuel to find him a good home and out of California.

The Jets won’t trade away the fourth overall pick, but there are reports that they are willing to trade away the 10th overall pick for the All-Pro wideout.

The first-round pick alone probably won’t satisfy the Niners alone, however, so the Jets might end up trading away their Round 2 pick, 38th overall, the 69th pick slated to be used in Round 3.

The 49ers could use the 10th overall to possibly trade down because there isn’t exactly anyone worth staying at that spot for in what’s generally considered to be a weaker NFL Draft class.

Trade down and grab even more picks to reload, and draft a wide receiver like Chris Olave from Ohio State or Christian Watson from North Dakota State, the latter being quarterback Trey Lance’s beloved target back in college.

The Philadelphia Eagles are an interesting team to watch out for this year since they are in the market to draft another wide receiver for the third-straight year with previous picks of Jalen Reagor and Devonta Smith in the past two years.

I don’t see the 49ers trading inside the same conference as themselves, but for the right asking price, they might not be able to turn it down.

In this scenario, the Eagles trade away the 18th overall pick in the first round, the 51st overall pick, and the 101st pick at the tail end of the third round. They could do that, or they can keep their second-round pick and package a couple of their fifth-round picks, like their 162nd and 166th overall picks of this year.

Both scenarios are plausible, but again I don’t see the 49ers trading in the same conference.

But you never know what might happen in this league.

49ers trade partner No. 1: Houston Texans

If you look up the Houston Texans’ needs on Pro Football Focus’ website for their mock draft simulator it will show, “Every Position”, which is not untrue.

The Texans have a lot of question marks on their roster including at the quarterback position. True, Davis Mills looked solid and better than what people give him credit for in his rookie year, and one can hope they continue to let him develop to see if they struck gold on the position without realizing they did.

Houston could use another offensive weapon to surround Mills with, though, and Deebo Samuel could be that very weapon who could pose a threat in the AFC South, but the Texans nevertheless will need to keep on bolstering the roster everywhere else, especially on the defensive side.

The team could possibly part away from their 13th overall pick alongside the 37th and 80th overall picks if they truly wanted Samuel. If the Texans were smart, they would try to trade down and try to grab more picks instead of staying with their third overall pick.

This draft isn’t necessarily strong in the first round, but there are some deep positions this year they could take advantage of.

The draft is only hours away, and it’s exciting to think of all the trade scenarios that could possibly happen regarding the 49ers and Samuel. This is going to be an interesting draft this year with also the possibility of quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo getting moved as well on draft night. If nothing happens with the two players, then one would expect Samuel to be on the team this year and Jimmy G getting traded or released by training camp.
