NFL Draft Pick No. 28: Green Bay Packers – Nakobe Dean, Linebacker, Georgia

Green Bay could easily double-dip at receiver with their picks, but there are some needs in defense, too, including at EDGE and linebacker. Nakobe Dean has featured in a lot of mock drafts, and he can help the Packers with their chronic run defense problem.

Dean had 72 tackles, 10.5 tackles for loss, six sacks and two interceptions for the season. Georgia has had a very dominant defense with multiple potential picks in the first round, and Dean did himself a lot of favors by not getting lost in the shuffle.

It says a lot about the Bulldogs defense that Dean hasn’t gotten the attention he might have otherwise gotten, but he’s a very strong defender who won the 2021 Butkus Award as college football’s best linebacker.

Dean is the best at WILL linebacker in the NFL, and like Devin Lloyd, he was a team leader on the defense. He’s a tough linebacker in the box who can play in coverage or as a blitzer. He rarely misses a tackle, and he’s a smart player who made defensive calls for the Bulldogs defense.
