NFL Draft Pick No. 22: Green Bay Packers – Christian Watson, Wide Receiver, North Dakota State

The Green Bay Packers were in dire need of a wide receiver before they traded Davante Adams to the Las Vegas Raiders. The starting receivers are now Allen Lazard and Randall Cobb, clearly, multiple upgrades are sorely needed.

Christian Watson is a Niner Noise favorite, but sadly there’s zero chance of him becoming a 49er pending any sort of NFL Draft trade-up.

Watson would be a top-20 pick if he played for a bigger program (and he still very well could be), given his intriguing blend of size and speed.

There’s a lot to like about Watson other than his physical attributes. His versatility is a big plus for him given he can line up outside, in the slot or as a return man. He fights hard for the ball, he’s a smart player and his route running is more than acceptable for the pros.

He has big-play ability all about him with his ability to beat defenders over the top or reel in yards after the catch. His predraft work has catapulted him into the running to be a first-round receiver, and Green Bay’s need is so great that he would fit in as a Week 1 starter instantly.
