49ers wouldn’t trade Deebo Samuel to Chiefs
If San Francisco has to trade Deebo Samuel this offseason, a move to an AFC team likely seems to be the favored pick, at least out of the NFC West at the very worst.
However, the one destination the 49ers would prefer not to send Samuel in the opposite conference would be the Kansas City Chiefs.
It’d be a challenge for the Chiefs to onboard and extend Samuel anyway, particularly after they jettisoned All-Pro wide receiver Tyreek Hill to the Miami Dolphins after he was frustrated he couldn’t get a lucrative deal done in KC. Nevertheless, Hill and quarterback Patrick Mahomes helped form what still could be the makings of a dynasty at Arrowhead Stadium.
That’s the last thing the Niners would want to see if they wind up representing the NFC in the Super Bowl this year and beyond. Samuel doesn’t need to be the next Chiefs player to remind San Francisco what happened in February of 2020.
In short, KC needs to figure out its own wide receiver challenges elsewhere.
