The 49ers don’t want to trade Deebo Samuel despite his contract frustrations. But what if another team made an offer the Niners couldn’t refuse?

Queue up your favorite quote from The Godfather.

Let’s set the record straight. The San Francisco 49ers don’t want to trade All-Pro wide receiver Deebo Samuel even though both parties appear to be at an impasse regarding discussions about what would be a lucrative contract extension.

But they would listen to offers. Perhaps even consider them. Going back to one of the greatest movies of all time, let’s also toss in a quote from NBC Sports Bay Area’s Matt Maiocco:

"There has been no indication the 49ers are openly shopping Samuel in a trade. But coach Kyle Shanahan said it himself a year ago: Nobody on the team is off-limits for trade discussions. He and [John] Lynch would consider any legitimate offer."

The Niners aren’t actively shopping Samuel. Not yet at least, and they may not anytime soon. However, what would the case be if another team simply makes Lynch and Shanahan “an offer he can’t refuse?”

Let’s create a normal-person scenario.

A stranger (or a friend… doesn’t’ matter here) approaches you and asks to buy your car.

“It’s not for sale,” you reply. But then the stranger offers you $200,000 for it right there. Unless your car is actually worth that much, you’d certainly consider it, right?

That’s the situation San Francisco finds itself in right now with Samuel, at least the part about seeing if any other team would be willing to make such an offer.

So, to continue the speculation, let’s dive into three can’t-refuse offers the 49ers would have to get to trade Samuel.
