49ers prediction No. 4: WR Christian Watson, NDSU

Let’s be totally honest here: It’ll be a small miracle if the 49ers somehow wind up with the luxury of landing Trey Lance’s former teammate at North Dakota State, wide receiver Christian Watson.

Watson has been a massive NFL Draft riser ever since his mind-blowing Senior Bowl and NFL Scouting Combine performances, which included him running a blazing-fast 4.36 40-yard time while posting an impressive 136-inch broad jump.

Pretty amazing for a 6-foot-4, 208-pound receiving target.

All of this, plus some quality collegiate production at the FCS level, has pushed Watson into first-round consideration, meaning the Niners won’t stand much of a chance to land him way at the tail end of Round 2.

However, should Watson inexplicably fall or San Francisco elects to get aggressive and trade up, Watson would be a no-brainer selection to completely round out its wide receiver corps and pair Lance with yet another weapon to complement pass-catching targets like Deebo Samuel and George Kittle.
