49ers free agent No. 1: Left guard Laken Tomlinson

Victory donuts.

Pro Bowl left guard Laken Tomlinson might be one of the more underappreciated players the Niners have had on their roster underneath head coach Kyle Shanahan since 2017, and Tomlinson has surely been overshadowed by now-retired left tackle Joe Staley and then All-Pro left tackle Trent Williams during his tenure.

But Tomlinson has one thing going for him that neither Staley nor Williams have had, and that’s durability. Ever since being acquired from the Detroit Lions via trade back early in 2017, Tomlinson has never missed a start.

That’s worth something. A lot of something.

Also just having turned 30 years old and having emerged as a quality starter for San Francisco, Tomlinson essentially gets to test the NFL free agency market for the first time in his career, having been extended by the 49ers not long after being picked up from Detroit.

Coming off that extension that paid him $5.5 million annually, it’s likely Tomlinson will look to command much more.

Should the Niners want to retain him, it’ll likely have to be a three-year deal at the very least with an annual average value of $7.5 million.

Prediction: Laken Tomlinson earns a three-year deal worth $22.5 million ($7.5 million annually) with $10 million fully guaranteed
