49ers 7-round mock draft with 2022 NFL Combine in the books
By Peter Panacy
Round 3, Pick No. 93 Overall: 49ers select CB Coby Bryant, Cincinnati
Even if San Francisco winds up signing a cornerback or two this offseason, it’d still stand to add at least one more body via the NFL Draft. After all, veterans like Josh Norman and K’Waun Williams are poised to depart via free agency, and the returning boundary options of Ambry Thomas and Emmanuel Moseley aren’t exactly solidified as starters.
The 49ers may actually benefit from many of the other promising corners who shot up big boards at the NFL Combine, such as UTSA’s Tariq Woolen and Florida’s Kaiir Elam, which ultimately means they’ll grab more attention than some others who may have originally been ranked ahead of them.
Cincinnati cornerback Coby Bryant didn’t have a bad combine, per se, running a shade above 4.50 in the 40-yard dash and putting up 17 reps on the bench press.

Yet the 6-foot-1, 193-pound Bryant made his argument of being a safe day-two draft pick by having nine interceptions over five collegiate seasons, and the Niners are sorely lacking defensive backs who serve as ballhawks.
Bryant fits the bill there.
He also fits the bill as a solid zone-style corner who plays best with the action in front of him, a scheme San Francisco will still look to employ.
