5 draftees who rose up 49ers big board at NFL Combine

49ers prospect No. 4: OL Zion Johnson, Boston College
Unlike Christian Watson, who is now a long-shot dream to fall to the 49ers, there’s still a chance Boston College offensive lineman Zion Johnson winds up slipping a bit into Round 2, although his impressive performance at the combine certainly put him into consideration for being a first-round pick.
Interior offensive linemen aren’t necessarily top priorities for Round 1, though, so maybe that works to the Niners’ advantage.
Nevertheless, the former Eagle managed to wow scouts with an impressive 32 reps on the bench press while not sacrificing too much in the speed department, running a 5.18 40-yard dash.
Johnson certainly looks to be the right kind of player to occupy a zone-style guard spot, and San Francisco could afford to upgrade the interior of its offensive line, particularly if left guard Laken Tomlinson departs via free agency.
Yet Johnson might now require a trade-up from where the 49ers are currently slated to have their first pick, No. 61 overall, thanks to his excellent combine workouts.
