49ers free-agent cornerback No. 3: Kyle Fuller, Broncos

The days when former Chicago Bears cornerback Kyle Fuller was in the discussion for being one of the best at his position in the game might have since passed, but the 30-year-old two-time Pro Bowler is still of good enough quality for a team like the 49ers to consider.

Fuller is essentially being phased out by the Denver Broncos, thanks largely to last year’s NFL Draft investment of cornerback Patrick Surtain II, yet Fuller nevertheless managed to start 10 games a year ago where he registered 51 tackles, three of which were for a loss, along with four pass breakups.

At this point in his career, Fuller would likely want to join a legitimate Super Bowl contender. And considering the shape of the Niners secondary heading into 2022, it might be worthwhile to add a veteran presence to help mentor some of the younger defensive backs like Ambry Thomas, Deommodore Lenoir and Talanoa Hufanga.

Going after Fuller, who can play both over the slot and on the outside, surely helps address some serious needs, and he may end up costing a lot less than the remaining two options on this list.
