Jimmy Garoppolo: 5 teams that may balk at trading for 49ers QB

No. 3: Jimmy Garoppolo wouldn’t be enough of an upgrade for Broncos
The Denver Broncos have lacked a good quarterback since Peyton Manning retired after the 2015 season, and their seemingly yearly search has certainly been frustration, and now they’re back at it again after failing to get much out of journeyman Teddy Bridgewater.
Yes, the Broncos have a stacked roster elsewhere, and one might think Jimmy Garoppolo could help solve the need of finally getting some stability under center.
And it isn’t as if the Niners lack trade relations with Denver anyway.
The problem, however, is the AFC is already stacked with quality quarterbacks, many of them young such as the Buffalo Bills’ Josh Allen, the Baltimore Ravens’ Lamar Jackson and the Cincinnati Bengals’ Joe Burrow. Making things worse, the AFC West is shaping up to be the toughest division in the NFL, armed with quarterbacks like the Kansas City Chiefs’ Patrick Mahomes and the Los Angeles Chargers’ Justin Herbert.
Is Garoppolo the kind of quarterback who can compete with those two? Probably not.
If the Broncos want to get out of the basement within their division, they’ll need a home-run target, perhaps someone like the Green Bay Packers’ Aaron Rodgers, who should be their primary focus.
