49ers 2022 NFL free agency predictions: Wide receiver Travis Benjamin

The Niners appear set with their top three wide receivers heading into 2022: Deebo Samuel, Brandon Aiyuk and Jauan Jennings.

While there are questions towards the back end of the depth chart, and Kyle Shanahan might still want a pure burner to stretch the field, it’s nevertheless hard to envision a scenario where bringing veteran wideout Travis Benjamin back makes a lot of sense.

Benjamin, who failed to catch just one of his five total targets over the course of the regular season, saw only 40 offensive snaps during the year anyway.

For an aging player who only saw scant time on the field aside from some modest usage on special teams, the likeliest of outcomes will have San Francisco looking to beef up the back end of the depth chart with younger commodities.

Meaning Benjamin will likely be seeking employment elsewhere in 2022.

Prediction: Not re-signed
