49ers Free-Agent Target No. 2: G Austin Corbett, Guard, Rams

Continuing on the offensive line, exactly how the 49ers decide to address any potential holes on the roster is an interesting one.

If Alex Mack does retire, they could decide to slide Daniel Brunskill from guard to center, then look to Aaron Banks to step up and fulfill his potential as a 2021 second-round NFL Draft selection. In a similar vein, left guard Laken Tomlinson is a free agent and will be sought after his Pro Bowl season.

San Francisco would love to have Tomlinson back, but you never know what will happen in the era of free agency.

If both Mack and Tomlinson move on, or the 49ers have no faith in Banks, the team could look at poaching Austin Corbett from the Rams to plug that hole and take away a vital part of Los Angeles’ offensive line.

Corbett was a disappointment when drafted by the Cleveland Browns, but turned around his career in Los Angeles. He’s a solid guard, would fill a potential hole, and anything that makes the Rams weaker is more than welcome.
