49ers don’t need to keep Jimmy Garoppolo around

Many of us have been supportive of Jimmy Garoppolo throughout his tenure with the team, and while he is massively undervalued as a quarterback, it’s nevertheless time to let Trey Lance take the reins and lead this team into the future.

The main issues with Garoppolo don’t lie with his passing abilities, but with his inability to maneuver around the pocket to avoid pressure. This is an area where we have seen Lance thrive in his limited action with the Niners so far in his young career.

The NFL is moving in a direction where it is very difficult to succeed unless your team employs a true athlete at the position. This becomes more evident every year as we watch the playoffs unfold, and players like the Buffalo Bills’ Josh Allen are running from side to side making video game-like plays.

With the firepower San Francisco currently possesses at the wide receiver, running back, and tight end positions, it cannot afford to waste these players’ prime years by ignoring the fact it must evolve and cut ties with Garoppolo.

It’s time to let the player the 49ers spent multiple first-round picks to acquire, Lance, take the field and become the face of this franchise.
